The Fight for Affordable Housing

While Section 8 housing has gotten a bad name, done right, it changes lives, communities, and futures, delivering lower crime rates and improved economic mobility.

According to the National Low-Income Housing Coalition, the United States has a shortage of 6.8 million rental homes that are affordable and available to low-income renters whose household incomes are at or below the poverty guideline or 30% of their area median income.

These residents are often forgotten by and omitted in most “affordable housing” plans, putting them at greater risk for homelessness, relocation, or subjection to substandard living conditions.

No matter their income level or socioeconomic status, people deserve safe, sanitary, and decent housing — and that is what Millennia works to deliver and preserve.

The Millennia Six-Step Transformation Formula

  • Acquire properties that have been severely neglected

  • Partner with government officials, financial institutions, and community leaders to plan transformation

  • Relocate existing residents to allow for complete renovations

  • Invest millions into completely transforming communities through “studs up” renovation

  • Return all residents to remodeled and significantly improved communities

  • Support residents with wrap-around services including job training, food availability, and enrichment programs

A Better Way to Live.

Since 2004, Millennia Housing Development, Ltd. (MHD) has successfully developed over 13,500 apartment units nationwide. The majority of these projects involved comprehensive renovations of existing apartment communities, with the primary goal of creating vibrant living experiences and enhancing the overall quality of life for both residents and the surrounding communities.
